Philanthropy/Service

Philanthropy is very important to our chapter.

  • We contribute food and donations to the local food shelf each month.
  • We contribute annually to the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation
  • Each year we select three non-profit groups to be recipients of donations.  This year we donated to CASA, Hospice of the Chesapeake and SPAN.

As individuals, some of our members and their husbands have participated in our local CASA organization.  Many members volunteer their time in their home communities on Theta's annual day of service. One of our alumna and her husband have assisted in tours on a traveling hospital ship.  We have a member who volunteers at the Naval Academy pharmacy.  Another member belongs to the Hospice of the Chesapeake Auxiliary which recently raised $14,000 for that organization.  Many members are very active in their churches.  We embrace service to our community and work hard as a Chapter and as individuals to make this area a better place for all.

Dressed bears at Christmas
Stuffed teddy bears and puppies we made for distribution to needy children by the Salvation Army. Our members were very creative in creating "theme" stuffed animals.
